A vintage French wooden polished turned hardwood pedestal occasional table with shelf. Mid-century modern, darkly varnished, wooden side table, plant stand; the perfect size for a table lamp, plants and ornaments. This stand has an extra shelf for books or other items. It is solid, sturdy and super stylish. The back of the table top and shelf is flat, to allow it to sit against a wall, for stability and space saving. Perfect for hallways/entryways and library/reading rooms. It is threaded and comes apart into three sections, for ease of storage and transportation. It stands 86.5cms/ 34" tall. The top and shelf are 39cms/ 15¼" diameter, 32cms/ 12½", front to back. The shelf section is 10cms/ 4" deep. It is heavy weighing 4.6kgs/ 10 lbs. In great condition for its age, it is a genuine vintage item and therefore has some slight surface scratches/scrapes from years of genuine use. The base has some delamination, which I have photographed close-up, please see last three photos. The delaminated pieces are right at the base edge, near the floor and do not, in any way, detract from the beauty or functionality of the piece. The varnish has slight signs of "wear" in places too, adding extra authenticity and charm.
It has many, many years of service yet to offer. A wonderful, unusual table from a "by-gone" era!
