This is a fabulous set of six entrée/hors d'oeuvres/starter 'Foie Gras' recipe plates.
The plates are decorated with a wonderful illustration of geese being fed on a farm underneath the recipe for 'Le Foie Gras' (Liver Pâté).
'Faire dégorger le foie pendant six heures dans de l'eau salée à raison de dix gr de sel par litre.

(The liver should be soaked for six hours in salt water at a rate of ten grams of salt per litre.
Put to heat in a saucepan of goose fat. -dip the liver into the fat. -season with salt, pepper, laurel, cloves -let it cook gently for thirty minutes.)

Foie Gras is a popular and well-known delicacy in French cuisine. Foie Gras is a Pâté, Parfait or Mousse made from fattened Duck or Goose Livers. Its flavour is described as rich, buttery, and delicate, unlike that of an ordinary duck or goose liver. French law states that "Foie Gras belongs to the protected cultural and gastronomical heritage of France."

These wonderful plates are the Ideal way to Serve your Foie Gras course at dinner parties. Foie Gras is often served as an entrée/starter on a slice of baguette and with a sweet, white wine.

This set is in perfect condition, with no chips or cracks. There is some very slight wear to one or two of the words, on just one of the plates, but nothing that is noticeable at normal viewing distance and it in no way detracts from the beauty or functionality of this set.

The plates are 20cms (7¾") diameter.
They all have the 'Revol Porcelaine France' mark on the undersides.
Altogether they weigh 2kgs (4.4 lbs.)
