This is a vintage, oval fish serving platter measuring 38cms/15" x 26cms/ 10¼". It is deep sided too", 4cms/ 1½", so that the fish can be served with sauces and dressings, without risk of spillage. It weighs 900gms/2lbs and is marked "Seltmann Weiden, Bavaria" on the underside.
This would make an ideal table centrepiece for serving a beautifully prepared Pike, Trout or Salmon. It would also be a wonderful party or buffet piece, for serving stylish canapés and nibbles, to add elegance to your setting. It is ideal for large catering events such as weddings, banquets and big family gatherings.
It has a delicate, fluted, gilt edge border and a gorgeous illustration of a Pike swimming amongst reeds and shells. The colors and details of the motif are incredibly accurate and realistic.
It is in excellent condition with no chips. There is some "wear" to the motif and gilding (see photos) a few light surface scratches, consistent with its age and use, but nothing that detracts from its beauty or functionality. It has many years of service yet to offer.
