This is a stunning set of five antique French books in faded green tones. They are 'aged to perfection' and will give you an instant 'old library' effect. There are works by some of France's most famous writers; Descartes and Diderot to give your bookshelves added French Chic!

This 'green' book bundle is made up of very collectible and increasingly hard to find books. They are in genuine vintage condition, as you can see from the photos. They have been held and read by many, many people who have 'thumbed through' them, studied them, ear marked pages, loved, lost and cherished them and they have finally ended up here - looking for a new home and a new adventure. They have also gathered a few pencil marks and names inside the covers over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic.

Most importantly they have that 'old book smell' reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.

The five books are all distressed from years of genuine use and some of the pages are delicate and loose.

The titles are:
Les Chefs-d'Oeuvres de Diderot, Tome Deuxième (Paperback early 1900's edition.) Denis Diderot (5 October 1713 – 31 July 1784) was a French philosopher, art critic, and writer. He was a prominent figure during the Age of Enlightenment.

Discours de la Méthode, René Descartes (Paperback early 1900's edition.) René Descartes (31 March 1596 – 11 February 1650) was a French-born philosopher, mathematician, and scientist. Descartes is widely regarded as one of the founders of modern philosophy. This book contains three works:
"Discourse on the Method", one of the most influential works in the history of modern philosophy, and important to the development of natural sciences, first published in 1637.
"Principles of Philosophy" this thesis of the Discourse on Method and Meditations on First Philosophy was written in Latin, and first published in 1644.
The Passions of the Soul (Les Passions de l'âme), completed in 1649.

Leçons de Géométrie, A. Saloman (Hardcover 1913 edition.) This book is filled with fabulous old diagrams and illustrations of angles, spheres, pyramids, cones and mathematical equations.

L'Epoque Contemporaine de 1789 à nos jours, Classe de Troisième, A.Amman et E C. Coutant (Hardcover 1905 edition.) This is a fascinating book of history from the French revolution, through the first republic and the Napoléonic period, to the colonial empires.

Encyclopédie Agricole. Législation Rurales - Etienne Jouzier (Paperback 1904 edition.) This is an agricultural encyclopaedia documenting everything you would need to know about farming law and legislation in the early 1900's. This book is a comprehensive guide to all taxes, rights, and restrictions to land, access to water courses, rents and responsibilities for farmers of the Belle Epoch. It also has a beautiful Art Nouveau design on the cover and spine.

To display them altogether, in a bundle, you will need a minimum space of 12cms/ 4¾" high x 19cms/ 7½" long x 12cms/ 4¾" deep.
They weigh 1.6kgs/ 3.5 lbs.
