This is a huge, heavy, oval fish serving platter measuring 55cms/21½" long x 21cms/ 9¼" wide. It is enormous weighing 1.8kgs/ 4 lbs! It has the "Veritable porcelaine" mark on the underside.
It has the most beautiful, colourful, detailed illustration of Pike swimming amongst river weeds. The colours are gorgeous, subtle grey/greens/blues and yellow ochre. The fish has been accurately represented, with spots, teeth and hints of mauve/pink on the underside. The fins and scales of the fish have been "picked out" in fine detail, with white highlights and finished with dark edges for increased definition.
It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is a microscopic amount of "wear" to the motif, not detectable with the naked eye. This magnificent platter has many, many years of service yet to offer.
It would make an ideal table centrepiece for serving a beautifully prepared Trout, Salmon or other fish. It would also be a wonderful party or buffet piece, for serving stylish canapés and nibbles, to add elegance to your setting.
