Eight French Stoneware Mustard Crocks with Vintage Cork Stoppers.
This set of eight white, French, stoneware mustard pots look fabulous when displayed together or along with other stoneware items. Classic "Jeanne d’Arc" Nordic/French country style jars for a fresh, simple, Scandinavian look.
This is a mix and match set, all different from each other.
All very collectible, there is one small, limited edition, pot from the famous Edmond Fallot Moutarderie, in Burgundy. This limited edition pot, has a colourful "Moutarde" logo and the words "Moutard de Bourgogne, Fabriquée à la meule de pierre à Beaune" (Made in Beaune, Burgundy, with a stone millstone.) Since 1840 this family run business has, and is still, producing the finest mustard. You can read all about it at their website here: https://www.fallot.com/en
There are two more pots from this producer, with green labels that read "Moutardier à Beaune depuis 1840" (Mustard maker of Beaune, since 1840)
There is one jar with the words "Les Olives" and one with the "LAB Lagny" mark embossed into the side at the bottom.
They all come complete with their "vintage"' cork stoppers. All different, gnarled, rough and worn in places which adds to the charm and rustic appearance of these gorgeous jars. One has it's original embossed red wax seal still intact on the cork, and is still readable with the word "Moutarde" (Mustard.)
These pots are chunky, the six larger ones weigh approx. 600gms/ 1.3lbs each. They stand approx. 12cms/ 4¾" tall (excluding the cork) and are 10cms/4" diameter. The openings are 5.5cms/ 3¼" diameter.
The two smaller pots weigh approx. 400gms/ 1.3lbs each. They are approx. 9.5cms/ 3¾" tall (excluding the cork) and 8cms/3" diameter.
The openings are 5cms/ 2" diameter.
Their colours are a range of neutral/oatmeal/creamy white and they all have smooth, shiny glazes. Their, handmade quality gives them a wonderful, tactile, undulating surface texture.
They have so many possible uses as storage for pens/pencils, flowers, spices, herbs or they can simply be displayed empty because they're irresistibly stylish in their understated form.
They are in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks. The LAB Lagny pot has an edge "nibble" at the base, present since manufacture, as it has been glazed over.
