This is a stunning set of five antique French books in faded green tones. They are 'aged to perfection' and will give you an instant 'old library' effect. There are works by some of France's most famous writers; Honoré de Balzac, Alfred de Musset and Montaigne to give your bookshelves added French Chic!

This 'green' book bundle is made up of very collectible and increasingly hard to find books. They are in genuine vintage condition, as you can see from the photos. They have been held and read by many, many people who have 'thumbed through' them, studied them, ear marked pages, loved, lost and cherished them and they have finally ended up here - looking for a new home and a new adventure. They have also gathered a few pencil marks and names inside the covers over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic.

Most importantly they have that 'old book smell' reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.

The five books are all distressed from years of genuine use and some of the pages are delicate and loose.

The titles are:
Poésies Nouvelles 1836 à 1852, Alfred de Musset (Paperback early 1900's edition.) Alfred Louis Charles de Musset-Pathay (11 December 1810 – 2 May 1857) was a French dramatist, poet, and novelist. This is a collection of the poetry written in his later years.

Eugénie Grandet, Honoré de Balzac (Paperback early 1900's edition.) Honoré de Balzac (20 May 1799 – 18 August 1850) was a French novelist and playwright. Eugénie Grandet is his novel first published in 1833.

Les Essais de Montaigne, tome cinquième. (early 1900's edition.) Michel de Montaigne, Lord of Montaigne (28 February 1533 – 13 September 1592) was one of the most significant philosophers of the French Renaissance, known for popularizing the essay as a literary genre. His 'Essays' are some of the most influential ever written!

Elements de Botanique, Tome II. P.H. Van Tieghem (Hardcover 1906 edition.) A massive tome of botanical studies. This book has charts, illustrations, diagrams and data on a myriad of plant species.

Histoire Ancienne, classe de seconde. Cours d'Histoire de Pirolet et Bernard (c. 1903 edition.) This book covers ancient history from the Egyptians and Israelites, through the Phoenicians and into Greece. This book has gathered some pencilled scholarly notes, remarks and comments, on the pages, over the years.
