A set of SIX, Antique, French, Ironstone (Terre de Fer) Transferware Plates.
A unique, one-off curated collection of plates from the late 1800s, early 1900s.
All are in genuine antique condition. They have everything required for that authentic, antique "look". They have microscopic edge "nibbles/grazes", plenty of crackling and staining, "aged to perfection." Authentic, antique shabby chic dining at it's best!
All of these plates have makers marks on the underside.
The large platter is over 130 years old. Semi-porcelain, it was produced in 1890, the factory produced for only a very short time period, and ceased everything except tile manufacture from 1906 onwards.
Stamped "1890 Waterloo Potteries, Trademark. Royal Premium, Semi Porcelain. T & R Boote, England. No. 139953" on the underside.
The stunning floral motif and border pattern covers most of the plate, so it looks fabulous from every angle!
Perfect for displays or to use for special occasions. It measures 39.5cms/ 15½" x 27.5cms/ 10¾" and is heavy, weighing 1.6kgs/ 3.5lbs.
There is a large, deep bowl measuring 26cms/ 10¼" diameter x 5cms/ 2" deep. The pattern is "Margot" by "Ste. Amandinoise, Terre de Fer."
There is a shallow bowl, measuring 23cms/ 9" diameter x 3cms/ 1¼" deep. The pattern is "Maire-Louise" by "Moulin des Loups & Hamages Nord."
A dinner plate measuring 23.5cms/ 9¼" diameter. It is marked "Royat, U&C" by "Sarreguemines."
A medium dinner plate measuring 22.5cms/ 9" diameter, the pattern is "Henry II" by "Salins, Terre de Fer".
A bowl measuring 21cms/ 8¼" diameter x 5cms/2" deep. It is marked "St. Amand, Made in France, 4017"
There are no chips. Consistent with their age and use, they have surface scratches and marks, but nothing whatsoever to detract from their beauty or functionality. Please take a good look at the photos (and feel free to ask for more close-ups) to view the staining, crackle and wear in more detail.
Perfect for displays or to use for special occasions, these are great collectible plates with real age, history and high impact, they need to be handled with respect for their age and condition.
