A set of Six, French, porcelain, cheese plates and cheese serving platter, illustrated with famous French cheeses.

All in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Each plate measures 21cms/ 8¼" diameter and they weigh 300gms/ 10.5ozs each.
The platter measures 37cms/ 14½" long x 23.5cms/ 9¼" wide, and weighs 800gms/ 1.76 lbs.
Some of the most famous French cheeses are illustrated:
Brie. A soft cow's-milk cheese which originated in Brie, in the Seine-et-Marne region.
Fourme d'Ambert. A semi-hard French blue cheese. One of France's oldest cheeses, it dates from as far back as Roman times. It is made from raw cow's milk from the Auvergne region of France, with a distinct, narrow cylindrical shape.
Bleu d'Auvergne and Cantal. Cow's milk cheeses, named after their places of origin in the Auvergne region of south-central France.
Chavignol, goat cheese produced in the Loire Valley.
Pont l’Évêque, from Normandy. A soft, creamy cow's milk cheese, probably the oldest Norman cheese still in production.
Comté. Made from unpasteurized cow's milk in the Franche-Comté, bordering Switzerland.
