Vintage 1970's "Sablant Vivency Brut" Sparkling Wine French Ice Bucket.
This is a fabulous vintage "Sablant Vivency Brut" Crémant/Champagne ice bucket /wine cooler from the 1970's.
Now iconic and very collectible these ice buckets were a promotional item, never for sale to the general public, given to restaurants, bars and bistros all over France to promote this brand of Crémant de Loire, a popular Champagne alternative.
The front of the bucket bears the famous, and instantly recognizable, "Sablant Vivency Brut" logo.
It is in excellent condition and, considering its age, there is very little damage to this bucket. It has obviously seen some action in French bars and bistros over the years but is still in remarkably good condition. It has no major dents, just odd "dints". I have photographed the largest, most obvious "dint" for you (please see the last photo.) It has scratches across the surface, consistent with use and some discoloration on the inside, from years of holding ice and water, but it has many, many years of service still to offer.
It has sturdy handles in an art deco inspired 'fan' design, making it easy to carry.
The bucket stands 20cms (7¾") tall and is tapered measuring 13.5cms (5¼") diameter at the bottom and 19cms (7½") diameter at the top. It is lightweight at 300gms/10½ ozs.
I have left this bucket exactly as I found it, without cleaning it because I love the authentic patina of its vintage appearance.
