*Here's a bit of history for you.
This is a Larousse page from the French universal encyclopaedia originally published by Larousse in Paris and edited by Claude Auge in the 1890s. Much of the illustration was originally painted by Adolph Millot an artist who is considered to be one of the originators of art nouveau movement. These pages are very good examples of his work and even today remain extremely decorative and attractive.
