A stunning set of six seafood plates. They look simply gorgeous on the table and are both elegant and stylish. Their clean lines and shiny glaze give them a cool, fresh finish and a 'timeless' sophistaction.
An exquisite gift for a seafood chef or an excellent housewarming present for those living near the sea.
Each plate has six shell-shaped 'wells' to hold the oysters/scallops. Traditionally your lemon slice sits stylishly in the center 'well' ready for squeezing onto the oysters.
The wells on these plates are oyster shell shaped, depressed, slightly, with raised 'ridges' and edges, reminiscent of oyster shells. They are fascinating to look at and wonderfully tactile. There cannot be a more stylish way to serve your seafood course at dinner parties.
They are heavy, weighing 600gms/ 1.13 lbs each and measure 25cms/ 9 ¾" diameter.
They are all in perfect condition, with no chips, cracks or scratches, which considering the age of this set is remarkable!
Wonderfully tactile and subtly elegant, stylishly understated.
The pottery factory in Niderviller, is one of the oldest in Lorraine region of France, and is the only one in the region to have manufactured porcelain with 'Sarreguemines' earthenware. This oyster plate set dates from the 1960's and each one has been 'hand painted' (it states this clearly in the mark on the base 'Peint Main') so each one is completely unique and original.
They are collectors pieces, now very sought after and hard to find, especially in large sets.
