This is a stunning set of six antiquarian English poetry books in faded brown tones. Dating from the 1800's, and early 1900's, they are "aged to perfection" and will give you an instant "old library" effect.
Several of these books have "gold" edged pages, giving them a rich patina, from "by-gone" times.

The titles are:

Poems of Tennyson (Hardcover with "Gold page edges" 1913 edition.) Alfred Lord Tennyson (6 August 1809 – 6 October 1892) was an English poet. He was the Poet Laureate during much of Queen Victoria's reign. This book contains some of his most famous poems, such as "The princess", "In Memoriam", "Maud", Four "Idylls of the King", "Enoch Arden" and many more.

Poetical Works of Longfellow, (c. 1902 edition.) Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (February 27, 1807 – March 24, 1882) was an American poet and educator whose most famous works include "The Song of Hiawatha", and" Evangeline", included in this book alongside many, many others.

Moore's Poetical Works Hardcover with "Gold page edges" c. 1865 edition.) Thomas Moore (28 May 1779 – 25 February 1852) was an Irish writer, poet, and lyricist celebrated for his Irish Melodies. Their setting of English-language verse to old Irish tunes marked the transition in popular Irish culture from Irish to English. This book is packed full of all his prose, lyrics and verse.

Milton's Poetical Works, with life and critical dissertation, Rev. George Gilfillon (Hardcover with "Gold page edges" 1861 edition.) John Milton (9 December 1608 – 8 November 1674) was an English poet and intellectual who served as a civil servant for the Commonwealth of England under its Council of State and later under Oliver Cromwell. He wrote at a time of religious flux and political upheaval, and is best known for his epic poem Paradise Lost (1667). Written in blank verse, Paradise Lost is widely considered to be one of the greatest works of literature ever written. It is included in this book along with many of his other famous works.

The Vision or Hell, Purgatory and Paradise by Dante Alighieri (Hardcover c. 1890 edition.) Dante Alighieri (c. 1265 – 14 September 1321), was an Italian poet, writer and philosopher. His depictions of Hell, Purgatory and Heaven provided inspiration for the larger body of Western art and literature. He is cited as an influence on such English writers as Geoffrey Chaucer, John Milton and Alfred Tennyson, among many others.

Book of British Poesy (Hardcover "Gold page edges" 1851 edition.) This amazing 171 year old book is packed full of extracts from British poetry. There are works by every famous poet you can think of, works by Lord Byron, John Donne, William Shakespeare, Robert Burns, William Cowper, Geoffrey Chaucer and many, many more! The cover on this book is loose and it has some loose pages, but is complete.

These six antique books have, over their long life, gathered pencilled scholarly notes, remarks and comments, on the pages, over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic. In amazing condition, for their age, they are gently "scuffed" and "distressed" from years of genuine use, and some of the pages are delicate and loose. Some of the books have bookplates inside the covers, as they were given as school (or Sunday school) prizes, I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic.
Most importantly they have that "old book smell" reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.

To display on a shelf, you will need a minimum space of 22cms/ 8½" high x 23/ 9" long x 15cms/ 6" deep.
They weigh 3.7kgs/ 8 lbs.
