Three Cobalt Blue and White, French, Glazed Pitchers. Mix and Match Set.
This is a stunning set of THREE, two-tone, glazed stoneware pitchers in vibrant cobalt blue and antique white.
Made in France, in the 1970's.
The tall pitcher is from the "Dolfi" distillery in Strasbourg. It would once have a contained "Curaçao Orange Dolfi" Liqueur and has a 70cl capacity. It stands 23cms (9") tall and is 12cms (4¾") diameter at its widest. It has a desirable amount of "hairline" crackle to the glaze on the base and is marked "Made in France" on the underside. It weighs 550gms (1.2lbs.)
The two smaller pitchers stand approx. 16cm (6 ¼") tall and are between 12/13cms (4¾"/5") wide. They weigh 400gms and 500gms (14ozs - 1.1lbs)
One is marked "Seve Niortaise" across the front, and one has the "Cointreau Frère et Fils, Angers" on the base. They both have lovely "beaded" detailing and, again, a desirable amount of "hairline" crackle to the glazes. There is a microscopic "nick" in the lip of the "Cointreau, Angers" jug, barely detectable (see last photo.) It in no way detracts from the beauty or functionality, it, in fact, enhances the authenticity and "vintage" appearance.
