Brie. A soft cow's-milk cheese which originated in Brie, in the Seine-et-Marne region.
Fourme d'Ambert. A semi-hard French blue cheese. One of France's oldest cheeses, it dates from as far back as Roman times. It is made from raw cow's milk from the Auvergne region of France, with a distinct, narrow cylindrical shape.
Bleu d'Auvergne and Cantal. Cow's milk cheeses, named after their places of origin in the Auvergne region of south-central France.
Chavignol, goat cheese produced in the Loire Valley.
Pont l’Évêque, from Normandy. A soft, creamy cow's milk cheese, probably the oldest Norman cheese still in production.
Comté. Made from unpasteurized cow's milk in the Franche-Comté, bordering Switzerland.
What a great excuse to try them all!
They all have the 'Veritable, porcelaine' mark on the undersides.
