This is an exceptionally beautiful 'St. Amand et Hamage Nord' ironstone (terre de fer) sauce boat with a fixed under plate, beneath the bowl, to gracefully catch any spills. The transfer pattern is named "Lamballe" and the mark dates them between 1896 - 1952.

This would look wonderful as a table centerpiece at dinner parties. It is elegantly shaped with a smooth, flowing lip and delicate leaves and flowers all the way around, so it looks lovely from every angle.

If you collect French ironstone transferware for an antique table scape then this would make a stunning centerpiece for a fragrant bouquet.

It is in fabulous condition with minimal damage. The last two photos show two small chips on the underside of the lip and a graze in the saucer edge, which in no way detracts from the beauty or functionality of this fabulous item.

It measures 23cms /9" long x 15cms/6" wide x 9cms/3½" deep.
It weighs 600gms/ 1.3lbs.
