Orange/Peach Book Stack of Five Vintage French Books.
This is a stunning set of five vintage French books in faded peach/orange/cream tones. They are "aged to perfection" and will give you an instant "old library" effect. There are works here by some of France's most famous writers, such as Alfred de Musset and Alfred de Vigny to give your bookshelves added French chic!
The perfect original gift for booklovers the world over. They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft shades and the pages are yellowed with age, with age spots. They make excellent film and photo props and would be ideal for a boho, or shabby chic, themed wedding as a table centerpiece decoration.
The five books are all distressed from years of genuine use, and some of the pages are delicate and loose:
The titles are:
La Destinée du Comte Alfred de Vigny par Paul Brach (Paperback 1927 edition.) A book on the life of Alfred de Vigny (27 March 1797 – 17 September 1863.) A French poet and early leader of French Romanticism. This book has one or two of its first few pages uncut - they have been like this since publication - and are all the more charming for it.
Alfred de Musset, Choix de Poésies (Paperback 1942 edition.) A selection of poetry by Alfred Louis Charles de Musset-Pathay (11 December 1810 – 2 May 1857.) A French dramatist, poet, and novelist. He was the librarian of the French Ministry of the Interior under the July Monarchy. This book has a loose spine, and some uncut pages, but is complete.
Auteurs Français, Dix-Huitième Siècle. F. Gendrot and F.-M. Eustache (Hardcover 1951 edition.) This book is packed full of famous French literary works from the 18th century writers. There are selected works by Voltaire, Montesquieu, Diderot, Buffon, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Beaumarchais to name but a few!
Auteurs Français, Dix-Neuvième Siècle. F. Gendrot and F.-M. Eustache (Hardcover 1953 edition.) Another gorgeous book of selected works from France's famous 19th century writers. Studies of writings by Emile Zola, Alphonse Daudet, Gustave Flaubert, Paul Verlaine, Guy de Maupassant, Victor Hugo, Alfred de Vigny, Alfred de Musset, Chateaubriand, Baudelaire and Honoré de Balzac.
Histoire, classes de 3ème de l'enseignement technique. J. Isaac & A. Lesaffre (Hardcover 1954 edition.) This book teaches France's rich history from 1789 to 1870. From the French Revolution, Napoléon and the Empire to the restoration of Louis XVIII and Charles X and beyond.
