Anyone who collects majolica glazed mid century pottery would love this wonderful piece.
It would make a gorgeous table centerpiece for any rustic farmhouse or rural country cottage kitchen, with an autumnal color scheme. Great for serving stylish canapés with before dinner drinks or handmade chocolates with digestifs.
This platter has been hand-painted in an expressive mid-century modern, highly textured design that typically characterizes the Vallauris region of South-Eastern France's pottery, celebrated for its beautiful glazes and extraordinary shapes.
The deep 'chocolate brown' base glaze of this bowl has been overlaid with a gorgeous 'fiery' orange and 'caramel' brown and white 'foam' glaze, which 'pools' like lava to the leaf shaped edges and tactile 'veins'.
It measures 27cms/ 10½" x 25cms/ 9¾" (at it longest edges.) 14cms/ 5½" tall to the top of the handle.
It is weighs 900gms /2lbs.
It is in excellent condition. There are a couple of tiny, tiny, 'nicks' in the leaf edge that do not in any way detract from the beauty or functionality of this amazing piece of ceramic. (see last photo for largest 'nick' at the tip of the leaf.)
There cannot be a more stylish way to serve your cheese course at dinner parties than on a beautiful piece of Vintage Pottery! ..............We love it!.................
