This is a limited edition French, stoneware mustard crock from the famous Edmond Fallot Moutarderie, in Burgundy. This limited edition pot, from 2000, celebrated the 160th anniversary of this mustard producer.
It has the words "Fabriquée à Beaune en Bourgone, à la meule de pierre" (Made in Beaune, Burgundy, with a stone millstone.) Since 1840 this family run business has, and is still, producing the finest mustard. You can read all about it at their website here: https://www.fallot.com/en
It will look fabulous with your other condiments at the table and add a real 'homemade' feel when serving pickles and chutneys with your lunches and picnics.
It has a smooth, shiny glaze and its rustic, handmade, quality gives it a wonderful, tactile, undulating surface texture.
It comes complete with a cork stopper, which is also 'vintage' and so slightly worn in places which adds to the charm and 'rustic' appearance of this gorgeous crock.
It has so many possible uses as storage for pens/pencils, flowers, spices, herbs or it can simply be displayed empty because it's irresistibly stylish in its understated form. Its antique white, oatmeal colour makes it ideal for 'neutral' rooms.
The jars stands 12cms/4¾" tall (excluding the cork) and is 10cms/4" diameter. The opening is 6cms/3¼" diameter. It is chunky weighing 600gms/ 1.3lbs!
It is in great condition, with no chips or cracks.
