This is a set of four gorgeous mid century oyster plates.
Dating from the 1970's these plates have been glazed individually, so each one varies slightly from the others in color and intensity. Some are more 'caramel' then others, whose colors verge on 'ochre/golden yellow'. Wonderfully tactile with 'ridges' reminiscent of oyster shells, where the base 'cream' glaze has been allowed to come through, there cannot be a more stylish way to serve your seafood course at dinner parties!
They could also be used for serving 'Coquilles St. Jacques', (scallops). The four plates all have six 'shell-shaped' depressions around a circular 'lemon well' in the center, where you stylishly serve your lemon ready for squeezing onto the seafood.
If you enjoy Seafood then these are a 'must' for serving and tasting seafood. An exquisite gift for a seafood chef or an excellent house warming present for those living near the sea. They are collectors pieces, now very sought after and hard to find.
The four plates each weigh 500gms (1.1 lbs) and measure 24cms/ 9½" diameter.
The plates are all in great condition, a couple of them have some microscopic 'nicks' in the edges of the wells and some original glazing flaws, but these are not noticeable at normal viewing distance and do not in any way detract from their beauty or functionality. They all have the 'adp Table, Décor Inalterable, France' mark on the undersides.
They have many years of service yet to offer.
