This is a set of five, Limoges porcelain, 'game' plates, dating from the 1950's.
These plates are smaller than dinner plates, so perfect for game terrines, pâtés and foie gras entrée/ hors d'oeuvre (starter) courses.
They would look wonderful displayed in a hunting lodge / country manor setting.
Each plates measures 20cms / 7¾" diameter and weighs 300gms/ 10.5 ozs.
They all have the "Limcolor, Terrassson, G. Brachet" mark on the undersides.
Each plate has a different design showing pairs of Hare, Deer, Pheasant, Snipe and Duck in their natural habitats. The colors and details of the illustrations are incredibly accurate and realistic. Exquisite in their attention to detail, with the forests and woodlands in a muted palette of subtle, autumnal tones, giving them a sophisticated, timeless quality.
They are antique white in colour with an ochre and black edge border.
They are all in remarkable condition for their 70 year age. There are no chips, scratches or cracks.
Plates sets such as this one are increasingly rare and hard to find and this set has many years of service yet to offer.
