These plates will make a real 'talking point' at your dinner party and also would make the perfect gift for your host or hostess, a great house warming present too.
This set consists of four cheese plates and a matching cheese serving platter. All in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. They all have the '‘Winterling Schwarzenbach Bavaria’ porcelain mark on the undersides.
The plates measures 17cms/ 6½" diameter. The platter measures 26.5cms/ 10½" diameter.
Altogether they weigh 1.4kgs/ 3 lbs.
There is a microscopic amount of wear to the writing on a couple of the plates.
The four smaller plates have four different cheese designs:
Reblochon, a soft washed-rind and smear-ripened French cheese made in the Alpine region of Savoy.
Roquefort, a sheep milk blue cheese from the south of France.
Chèvre, goat's cheese from the Poitou-Charente region of Nouvelle Aquitaine.
Camembert, a soft, creamy, surface-ripened cow's milk cheese. It was first made in the late 18th century at Camembert, Normandy in northern France.
Each Plate shows the animal, from whose milk the cheese is made, and also details of the region that the cheese comes from in the background.
The Platter has 'Les Fromages de France' around a map of France, illustrated with lots of different cheeses.
