This is a stunning set of six vintage French books in faded creamy beige tones. They are 'aged to perfection' and will give you an instant 'old library' effect. There are works here by some of France's most famous writers, such as Victor Hugo and Jules Verne to give your bookshelves added French chic!

They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft shades and the pages are yellowed with age, with age spots. They make excellent film and photo props and would be ideal for a boho, or shabby chic, themed wedding as a table centerpiece decoration.

The six books are all paperback editions, distressed from years of genuine use, and some of the pages are delicate and loose:

The titles are:

Morceaux Choisis de Victor Hugo, Prose. (1928 edition.) Victor Hugo (26 February 1802 – 22 May 1885) was a French poet, novelist, and dramatist of the Romantic movement. Hugo is considered to be one of the greatest and best-known French writers. This book contains some of his most famous works 'Les Misérables', 'Notre-Dame de Paris' and 'Les Travailleurs de la Mer'.

Les Frères Kip - Jules Verne (1938 edition.) Jules Gabriel Verne (8 February 1828 – 24 March 1905) was a French novelist, poet, and playwright. 'The Kip Brothers' is an adventure novel, written in 1902. The story features two castaways on a barren island in the South Seas. Karl and Pieter Kip are rescued by the brig James Cook. After helping to quell an onboard mutiny, however, they suddenly find themselves accused and convicted of the captain's murder. In this story, one of his last Voyages Extraordinaires, Verne interweaves an exciting exploration of the South Pacific with a tale of judicial error.

La Chasse au Météore - Jules Verne (1934 edition.) 'The Chase of the Golden Meteor' concerns the rivalry between two amateur astronomers in the same small American town who spot a new meteor and attempt to claim the credit for themselves. The meteor turns out to be made of gold and thus extremely valuable. Another eccentric amateur scientist, this time an inventor, creates a device which will cause it to fall where he chooses.

Le Phare du Bout du Monde - Jules Verne (1940 edition.) 'The Lighthouse at the End of the World' involves piracy in the South Atlantic during the mid-19th century, with a theme of survival in extreme circumstances, and events centering on an isolated lighthouse.

Oeuvres Complètes de Charles Baudelaire (1948 edition.) Charles Pierre Baudelaire (9 April 1821 – 31 August 1867) was a French poet who also produced notable work as an essayist and art critic. This book contains his complete works.

Anthologie de Ecrivans Français du XIXe Siècle, Poésie - Tome I (1800 - 1850). France's famous writers from the 19th century feature in this book. Poetry by Chateaubriand, Victor Hugo, LaMartine, Alfred de Musset and Alfred de Vigny to name but a few!

To display them altogether you will need a minimum space of 12.5cms/ 5" high x 19cms/ 7½" long x 14cms/ 5½" deep.
They weigh 1.4kgs/ 3lbs.

The books in this book bundle are in genuine vintage condition, as you can see from the photos. Some of the pages and covers are slightly loose. One or two of the books have their first few pages uncut - they have been like this since publication - and are all the more charming for it. They have also gathered a few pencil marks, and names inside the front covers, over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic.
Most importantly they have that 'old book smell' reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.
