Six vintage French books in faded beige tones. They are "aged to perfection" and will give you an instant "old library" effect and your bookshelves added French chic!

The perfect original gift for booklovers the world over. They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft shades and the pages are yellowed with age, with age spots. They make excellent film and photo props and would be ideal for a boho, or shabby chic, themed wedding as a table centerpiece decoration.

The six books are all distressed from years of genuine use, and some of the pages are delicate and loose:

The titles are:

Méthode Française et Exercises Illustrés, 1er Vol, P. Crouzet, G. Berthet et M. Galliot (Hardcover 1935 edition.) An illustrated guide to the French languauge with lessons and exercises on grammar, composition and verb conjugations for 11- 14 year old children.

Précis de Phonétique Françaises, E. Bourciez (Paperback 1958 edition.) A study of French phonetics, linguistics and the physical properties of speech.

Romans II, Voltaire (Paperback c.1929 edition.) Voltaire (21 November 1694 – 30 May 1778) was a French Enlightenment writer, historian, and philosopher famous for his wit. He was a critic of Christianity, especially the Roman Catholic Church. He advocated freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and separation of church and state. A versatile and prolific writer, producing works in almost every literary form. This book contains studies and commentaries on selected passages of work from Voltaire’s novels.

La revolution Française, Pierre Gaxotte (Paperback 1928 edition.) A comprehensive guide to the history of the French Revolution.

La Vie Illustré et Libertine de Jean-Baptiste Lully, Henry Prunières (Paperback 1929 edition.) Jean-Baptiste Lully (28 November [O.S. 18 November 1632 – 22 March 1687) was an Italian-born French composer, instrumentalist, and dancer who is considered a master of the French Baroque music style. Best known for his operas, he spent most of his life working in the court of Louis XIV of France and became a French subject in 1661. He was a close friend of the playwright Molière, with whom he collaborated on numerous comédie-ballets, including L'Amour médecin, George Dandin ou le Mari confondu, Monsieur de Pourceaugnac, Psyché and his best known work, Le Bourgeois gentilhomme. This book is study of his life.

Rabelais, Gargantua & Pantagruel, Tome III (Paperback c. 1927 edition.) Tiers Livre. (1953 edition.) François Rabelais (1483 – 1553) was a French Renaissance writer, physician, Renaissance humanist, monk and Greek scholar. This is a study of the third book of Pantagruel, from 1546.

These books have been held and read by many, many people who have "thumbed through" them, studied them, ear marked pages, loved, lost and cherished them and they have finally ended up here - looking for a new home and a new adventure. They have also gathered a few pencil marks and names inside the covers over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic.

Most importantly they have that "old book smell" reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.

To display in a bundle, tied with twine, you will need a minimum space of 14cms/ 5½" high x 20cms/ 7¾" long x 13cms/ 5" deep.
They weigh 1.8kgs/ 4 lbs.
