This ceramic cheese board has been hand-painted and dates from the late 1960's / early 1970's.
An absolutely stunning table centerpiece.
The perfect gift for cheese lovers. Why not give this platter as a gift to your dinner host/hostess along with some French cheeses and a bottle of Bordeaux wine..........Perfection!................
The brown base glaze of this platter has been overlaid with a gorgeous mixture of fiery red, for the flower petals and buds, and a deep forest green, for the leaves.
It's irregular shape makes it fascinating to view from all angles and it is incredibly tactile. The asymmetric shape of the ceramic and the way the motif is off-set to one side forms a wonderfully alluring surface.
It is clearly marked 'Faïence Poët Laval - Drome' and signed 'Didier' on the underside.
Poët Laval is a village in south eastern France, not far from Montelimar. It has long been involved in the production of pottery.
It measures 28cms/ 11" x 27cms/ 10½" (at it longest edges.) 15cms/ 6" tall to the top of the handle.
It is chunky weighing 1.2kgs/ 2.6lbs!
It is in excellent condition with no chips.
.........you just need to provide the red wine, a baguette and the cheese of course!.........Bon Appetit!..........
