This is a large, farmhouse kitchen, mixing bowl with a very useful pouring lip. The wide "speckled chestnut" rim border and inside have been glazed, the outside is natural, unglazed ceramic, giving this bowl a charming "rustic country" feel.
It is large and heavy, weighing 1.7kgs/ 3.75 lbs.
It measures 25cms/ 9¾" diameter, at the rim (26cms/ 10¼" to the lip). It is 13.5cms/ 5¼" deep and 13cms/ 5" diameter, at the base.
In amazing condition, with no chips or cracks.
Perfectly clean and ready to use in your home or professional kitchen. The outside of the bowl has some "clear" glaze dribble marks made whilst glazing the inside and rim, giving it an authentic patina.
The much older antique version of these "Tian" (must have) or "Gresale" Bowls would have been used for preparing cassoulet or meat based foods and kept in the bowl for preservation, in much the same way as traditional "confit" pots.
This more recent bowl is perfect for cake making mixtures, kneading bread or perfect as a French farmhouse table centrepie
ce for fruit / salad serving.
A thoughtful gift for anyone who loves home baking, why not combine it with some vintage wooden mixing spoons!
