The illnesses lampooned include "Madness", "St-Guy's Dance" and "Loneliness". Rare and collectible, these would make a thoughtful gift for any doctor or graduating medic.
The illustrators were Antoine Chazal (1793 - 1854). Charles Aubry (1817 - 1837), Hippolyte Bellangé (1800 - 1866) and Alexandre-Marie Colin (1798 - 1875). They are from the 1989 edition of "ALBUM COMIQUE DE PATHOLOGIE PITTORESQUE." by Ambroise Tardieu* and published by editions Louis Pariente.
These prints are copies from the original Lithography, by Langlumé, in the "Comic album of picturesque pathology"; a collection of twenty medical caricatures, published in Paris by Huzard-Courcier for Ambroise Tardieu in 1823.
Big format prints, on heavyweight paper in exceptional quality colour. The frames measure 37cms/ 14½" x 30cms/ 12".
