Pike Platter. Extra Long, Heavy, Pillivuyt Porcelain Fish Platter.

This is an extra long, rare, oval fish serving platter measuring 58cms/ 22¾" long x 20cms/ 7¾" wide. It is deep too, 4.5cms/ 1 ¾", so that the fish can be served with sauces and dressings, without risk of spillage.
It is enormous, weighing 2.2gs/ 4.85lbs!

Simple and elegant, it has a gorgeous illustration of a pike swimming through reeds in water. The words "Plat au Brochet" (Pike Dish), 'au court bouillon" (in stock/broth), "Beurre blanc Nantaise" (Butter sauce from Nantes) and "au Chablis" (with Chablis) written around it's wide border.
This is a traditional French classic recipe for enjoying Pike in a butter sauce. This platter would make an excellent gift for a fish chef.

In excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. It has a microscopic "dark glaze" spot on the edge of the rim above the words "au court bouillon", present since manufacture. It is barely detectable and in no way detracts from the beauty or functionality of this magnificent platter.

It has the "Pillivuyt, France" porcelain mark on the underside.
Founded in 1918, Pillivuyt is one of the oldest and prestigious french porcelain brands in the Berry area, central France.

This would make an ideal table centerpiece for serving a beautifully prepared Trout, Salmon or other fish. It would also be a wonderful party or buffet piece, for serving stylish canapés and nibbles, to add elegance to your setting.
