An original 1950s Tin MOULINETTE Vegetable Slicer/ Grater. Made in France. Comes complete with TWO original grating/cutting discs for different slicing/shredding/grating. It is rare to find one of these fabulous utensils complete and working. The patina is amazing, adding to its authenticity and charm. The discs are inserted into the top, and sit loosely under the blade. The "pin" handle lifts out to allow the insertion of the disks, and then connects through each cutting disc to rotate. The knob and "handle" leg are wood. The legs pull out and clip, to stabilise the slicer when in use, and fold away for ease of storage when not in use. They have some of their original rubber feet still intact, these are worn and show signs of degradation, consistent with their age and use. Simple to use, it is a wonderful eco-friendly, no electricity or batteries, old-fashioned kitchen utensil that is gentle with the vegetables, slicing them slowly to retain the maximum goodness. Made in France, it is embossed with the words "MOULINETTE" at the front, with "Brevete Tous Pays. Pat. Pend" on one side and "Mouli Product, Marque Dépose" on the other.
In excellent vintage condition, in full working order, it is perfect for vintage kitchen displays and food photography props. It has obvious signs of wear, from years of genuine use in the kitchens of provincial France, so please do take a good look at the photos to view it's condition. The rust and tarnish marks simply make it more alluring!
