Limoges Porcelain Fish Platter. Large, Oval "Trout" Platter.

A Limoges porcelain Trout platter.
Very collectible, it is large, measuring 40cms/15¾" long x 31cms/12 ¼" wide and weighs a heavy 1.9kgs/ 4lbs.

It has the most detailed illustration of two Trout swimming. The colours are muted, subtle greens and grey/blues. The fish are accurately represented, with spots and "hints" of pink and yellow on the undersides. The fins and tails of the fish have been "picked out" in fine detail. An Iris sits to the side of the platter, the mauve of the background hills in the landscape complementing the purple of its petals. Most impressive is the way the water has been "brushed" across the fish to give the impression of its movement through the river.
The wide border has a repeating motif of an anglers basket, nets and rods. The perfect gift for anglers and fish lovers the world over.

In amazing condition, with no chips or cracks. It has the "Porcelaine de Limoges France" mark on the underside.
