This is a stunning set of five old French books in faded "light/duck egg blue/grey" tones. They are "aged to perfection", perfect for shabby chic displays and an "old library" effect.

They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft shades and the pages are yellowed with age, with age spots. They make excellent film and photo props and would be ideal for a boho, or shabby chic, themed wedding as a table centerpiece decoration.

The five books are all hardcover editions, distressed from years of genuine use, and some of the pages are delicate and loose:

The titles are:

Morceaux Choisis de Littérature Française, du Xème au XIXème Siècle, cours supérieur. Ch. Lebaigue (1891 edition.) This gorgeous 132 year old book is packed full of selected works by France's most famous writers, from the 10th to the 19th centuries. An amazing collection of poetry and prose from authors such as Corneille, Ronsard, Rabelais and Montaigne, Balzac, Madame de Sévigné, Voltaire and Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Everyone from La Fontaine and Molière, to Victor Hugo and Alfred de Musset is featured. To name just a few!

Géométrie Plane, classes de quatrième et de troisième. P. Camman & A-G. Rebouis (1937 edition.) A school study guide for students aged 13 - 15 years old. This book is filled with fabulous old diagrams and illustrations of flat/two dimentional geometrical shapes and angles, mathematical equations and calculations.

Afrique, Océanie, Amérique, première année. F. Schrader et L. Gallouédec. (1913 edition.) This 110 year old book was written for young women studying geography in the early 1900's. It is a comprehensive guide to Africa, America and Australasia with coloured maps and illustrations throughout.

La France et Ses Colonies, Troisième Année - L. Gallouédec et F. Maurette (1927 edition.) A study of France and France's overseas territories, geography and population.

Histoire de France, Jusqu'en 1610. Albert Malet (1913 edition.) This amazing book covers the history of France from the Gaule's through Charlemagne, the Crusades, Wars of Religion up to the beginning of the Rennaisance period. Comprehensively documented through images and maps. It covers art and literature too.

These books have, over their long life, gathered pencilled scholarly notes, remarks, comments, on the pages, over the years. They have names inside the front covers too. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic. Most importantly they have that "old book smell" reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.

To display them altogether you will need a minimum space of 13cms/ 5" high x 19cms/ 7½" long x 14cms/ 5½" deep. Altogether they weigh 2.2kgs/ 4.8 lbs.
