These wine cradles are designed to hold the bottle firmly in a prone position. It is exactly the right dimension to hold the bottle snugly between the backrest and the "ring" at the front, which holds the bottle neck firmly in place. Designed for very good quality "aged" red wines that will normally have a deposit in the bottom of the bottle. Using this cradle will ensure that the bottle rests in the correct position so as not to disturb the deposit and circulate it through the wine.
When serving wine from the cradle, pour very smoothly so that the wine does not slop back into the bottle and agitate the sediment.

In excellent condition. It is a genuine vintage item, so does have some very slight tarnish marks, consistent with its age and use, but nothing whatsoever to detract from it's beauty or functionality.
