A rare set of FIVE game hunting plates by Gien, France. Hand-painted.
There are five different illustrations, Wild Boar, Duck, Hare, Pheasant and Partridge. Exquisite "Sketched" effect illustrations in a gorgeous, rich, autumnal palette, to match the game hunting season.
Each plate measures 23.5cms/ 9 ¼" diameter.
Really high impact plates. Beautiful plates to display.
In excellent condition. As with all vintage GIEN, plates, they have plenty of desirable "hairline crackle" to the glazes, which is to be expected with the age of this set and is essential for authenticity in styling. The crackle does not in any way detract from their beauty or functionality; and in fact adds to the charm and "aged to perfection" look of these gorgeous plates. The Hare plate has an edge chip on the underside of the rim, it is not viewable from the top at all, so does not effect the ability to use/display it. (See photo.)
