A set of FIVE lithograph prints from the 1989 edition of "ALBUM COMIQUE DE PATHOLOGIE PITTORESQUE." by Ambroise Tardieu* and published by editions Louis Pariente. These are not book pages, but actual prints, ready to frame.

These prints are copies from the original Lithography, by Langlumé, in "Comic album of picturesque pathology"; a collection of twenty medical caricatures, published in Paris by Huzard-Courcier for Ambroise Tardieu in 1823.

Big format prints measuring 36cms/ 14" x 29cms/ 11½", on heavyweight paper in exceptional quality colour.

These five prints are medical science caricatures, they show various diseases as social satire. The illnesses lampooned include "Vapors", "Madness", "St-Guy's Dance", "Scabies", and "Loneliness".
The illustrators were Antoine Chazal (1793 - 1854). Charles Aubry (1817 - 1837), Hippolyte Bellangé (1800 - 1866) and Alexandre-Marie Colin (1798 - 1875).

*Auguste Ambroise Tardieu (10 March 1818 – 12 January 1879) was a French medical doctor and the pre-eminent forensic medical scientist of the mid-19th century
