Enormous Boat Shaped Dish. Ceramic Boat Shaped Planter. Coastal Home.

This is a huge ceramic boat shaped dish, made in Brittany, France, by the BCI (Bretagne Céramique Industrie) from the 1980's.

Glazed white on the inside and navy blue on the outside, it is beautifully detailed in the exact shape of a fishing boat, flat at the back and rising gently at the front, with ridges reminiscent of boat timbers.
It is extra large, measuring 41cms/ 16¼" long x 23.5cms/ 9¼" wide x 6cms/ 2¼" deep at the sides, 12cms/ 4¾"(at its deepest point), and weighs 1.9kgs/ 4 lbs.
This boat is in excellent condition, with no chips, scratches or cracks. It has a small "wobble" undulation, on one side of the edge, this occurred at the pre-firing stage as it has been glazed over, giving it personality and extra charm!

This boat was originally made for displaying seafood. It is rare and collectible.
I've styled it as a bathroom towel holder/soap dish, as it would make a great accessory in a nautical bathroom/washroom setting. Perfect for storing towels, candles and soaps. It would make an unusual gift for anyone who loves "sea themed" interior décor.
