This is a set of eight mismatched blue and white transferware plates and bowls. A one-off curated collection, perfect for displaying on a country cottage dresser or for weddings and vintage tea parties.
Each pattern is different, each is equally as lovely. These look absolutely charming when layering on top of each other. You will receive exactly this set of plates/dishes.
This collection weighs 3.2kgs/ 7 lbs altogether. There are two large dinner plates measuring 25.5cms/ 10" diameter. One is marked "BRITISH ANCHOR, ENGLAND EST. 1884." The design is from a range named "English Country Scenes." The other is marked "Lunéville Faience, founded 1732" and from a range named "English Style". One medium dinner plate, measuring 23.5cms/ 9¼" diameter, marked "Porcelaine, Pyroblan, B.P" Four tea/side plates, one measuring 21cms/ 8¼" diameter, two measuring 20.5cms/ 8" diameter and one measuring 20cms/ 7¾" diameter. Three have makers marks; "Villeroy and Boch, Burgenland", "Blue Fruit, Wood & Sons, England", "N.F. Fontebasso Italy, Swiss Landscape." One small dessert plate measuring 17.5cms/ 6¾" diameter.
They are all in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. Some have ageing "hairline crackle" to the glazes, and some mild discoloration, which is to be expected with the age of these plates and is desirable for that "antique" look and feel, adding to their authenticity and charm. A couple of the plates have a slightly rough feel to the edges.
