A set of nine novels by Clément Vautel. They have serious "Shelf Appeal."
They are hardcover editions with wonderful, marbleized, covers and ribbed spines. Each one is stunning in its own right and together they make an incredible impact.
The patina on these books is outstanding, they are 100 years old and "aged to perfection", with yellowed pages for an instant "old library" effect.
Clémet Vautel (pseudonym of Clément Vautel) was a French journalist, historian, pamphleteer and novelist (born in Tournai, Belgium in 1876, he was naturalised French and died in Paris in 1954.)
Author, of popular novels sometimes in collaboration, as with Georges de la Fouchardière with whom he co-wrote "The Reopening of the Terrestrial Paradise" (1919.)
The titles are:
"L'Amour a la Parisienne" (Parisian Love.) 1927 edition.
"Mademoiselle Sans-Gêne" 1922 edition.
"Madame Ne Vent Pas d'Enfant" (Madame Does Not Sell Children) 1924 edition.
"Mon Curé Chez Les Riches" (My Priest Among The Rich) 1923 edition.
"Les Folies Bourgeoises" 1923 edition.
"La Réouverture du Paradis Terrestre" (The Reopening of the Terrestrial Paradise) 1919 edition.
"Le Bouif Chez Mon Curé" 1928 edition.
"Mon Curé Chez Les Pauvres" (My Priest Among The Poor) 1925 edition.
"Je Suis Un Affreux Bougeois" (I am a Terrible Bourgeois) 1926 edition.
If you choose to line them up (like a normal library shelf) then you need a space 19cms/ 7½" high x 22cms/ 8¾" long and 12cms/ 4¾" deep.
They weigh 2.7kgs/ 6 lbs altogether.
