Six vintage French books in faded cream/beige tones. They are "aged to perfection" and will give you an instant "old library" effect and your bookshelves added French chic!

The perfect original gift for booklovers the world over. They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft shades and the pages are yellowed with age, with age spots. They make excellent film and photo props and would be ideal for a boho, or shabby chic, themed wedding as a table centerpiece decoration.

The six books are all distressed from years of genuine use, and some of the pages are delicate and loose:

The titles are:

Morceaux Choisis de Victor Hugo, Poésie (Paperback 1929 edition.) Victor Hugo (26 February 1802 – 22 May 1885) was a French poet, novelist, and dramatist of the Romantic movement. Victor Hugo is considered to be one of the greatest and best-known French writers. This book is packed full with a selection of his poetry and prose.

Les Trois Mousquetaires, II, Alexandre Dumas (Paperback 1943 edition.) Alexandre Dumas (born Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie, 24 July 1802 – 5 December 1870) was a French writer. His works have been translated into many languages and he is one of the most widely read French authors. The Three Musketeers is a French historical adventure novel, written in 1844. It is in the swashbuckler genre, which has heroic, chivalrous swordsmen who fight for justice.

La Vie de Jean Racine, François Mauriac (Paperback 1928 edition.) Jean Racine (22 December 1639 – 21 April 1699) was a French dramatist, one of the three great playwrights of 17th-century France, along with Molière and Corneille. This book is a study of his life.

Chefs-d'Oeuvres, Comiques des Successeurs de Molière, I - Baron et Dufresny (Paperback c. 1927 edition.) This book studies comedies written after Molière through his successors; playwrights Michel Baron (8 October 1653 – 22 December 1729) and Charles Dufresny, Sieur de la Rivière (1648 – 6 October 1724.) It contains the plays "L'homme à Bonne Fortune" (The Lucky Man) by Michel Baron and two of Dufresny's plays; " L'Esprit de Contradiction", from 1700,"La Coquette de Village", from 1715.

Chefs-d'Oeuvres, Comiques des Successeurs de Molière, II - Dancourt (Paperback c. 1927 edition.) This book studies comedies written by playwright Florent Carton aka Dancourt (1 November 1661 – 7 December 1725.) It contains three of his plays; "Le Chevalier à la Mode", "La Maison de Campagne" and "Les Bougeoises de Qualité."

Oeuvres Complètes de Ronard, Discours des Misères de ce temps (Paperback c. 1949 edition.) Pierre de Ronsard (11 September 1524 – 27 December 1585) was a French poet or, as his own generation in France called him, the "prince of poets". This book is a discussion on life at the time of his writing and the influences on his work.

These books have been held and read by many, many people who have "thumbed through" them, studied them, ear marked pages, loved, lost and cherished them and they have finally ended up here - looking for a new home and a new adventure. They have also gathered a few pencil marks and names inside the covers over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic.

Most importantly they have that "old book smell" reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.

To display in a bundle, tied with twine, you will need a minimum space of 14cms/ 5½" high x 21cms/ 8¼" long x 14cms/ 5½" deep.
They weigh 1.8kgs/ 4 lbs.
