Complete 1837 Old Testament Bible in Three Volumes. French Language.

The complete old testament in three volumes, dating from 1837. These books are 186 years old!
Rare and collectible, they are hardcover editions with wonderful, marbleized, covers. Each one is stunning in its own right and together they make an incredible impact. Just one peek inside the covers of these books tells you, their age. The typeface and print ooze style and authenticity. In remarkable condition, perfectly readable, delicately scuffed.
In the French language, translated from La Vulgate by "Le Maistre de Sacy" these three tomes are packed full of black and white engravings throughout to accompany the notes and illustrate the scientific, archaeological, historical and geographical references. Each image is protected by a tissue paper sheet to preserve the print.
They are in genuine antique condition, as you can see from the photos. They are complete, with no loose pages, but the spines are delicate, and slightly detached in places. The pages have "age spots" and edge discoloration which adds to their charm and authenticity.
They need to be handled with respect for their age and condition.

Most importantly they have that "old book smell" reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.

These books are large, each page is roughly A4 size, 28cms/ 11" x 19cms/ 7½".
They weigh a heavy 4.2kgs/ 9.25 lbs altogether.

Tome I contains: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Book of Joshua, The Book of Judges, Book of Ruth.
Tome II contains: 1st Book of Kings, Second, Third and Fourth (includes Samuel.), 1st and 2nd Books of Chronicles, Book of Ezra, The Book of Nehemiah, Book of Tobias, Judith, Ester, Poétiques, Book of Job.
