Ceramic Wine Cooler in Lavender Design. Terracotta Wine Chiller.

This is a vintage French terracotta wine cooler.
It has a beautiful hand-painted, "lavender sprig", glazed illustration at the top. The glazed area runs just over the rim and forms a band all the way around. There is unglazed terracotta inside and beneath.
Perfect for Summer drinks outdoors. It would make a great gift for a host/hostess filled with their favourite bottle.

These wine coolers are very effective during Summer to keep your white wine or rosé chilled. It can also be used in Winter to keep your red wine at the correct room temperature.

There are two ways to use it:
For chilling white wine and rosé:
Soak the wine cooler in cold water for about 7 minutes. The clay will darken as it absorbs the moisture, empty the water and place your favourite bottle of chilled wine in the cooler. The evaporation process will keep your wine cold for 3/4 hours!

For maintaining red wine at the 'idéale température':
Once you have warmed your red wine to the correct room temperature simply place it into the wine cooler and it will remain at the same temperature throughout the meal.

It stands 24cms/ 9½" tall and is 12cms/ 4½" diameter.
It weighs 1.2kgs/ 2.6 lbs.
The inside of this wine cooler is super smooth and it has no chips or cracks. It has a few light surface marks, consistent with use (see photos) and is signed by the potter, on the base.
