Ceramic Wine Cooler. French Terracotta "Brique a Vin". Wine Chiller.

This is a vintage French terracotta wine cooler "Brique a Vin"- very charming and rustic.
It has a beautiful hand-painted, glazed illustration at the top and the words "Brique à Vin" (Wine Brick) beautifully hand-written on the front of the unglazed terracotta beneath.
It's one of the most stylish rustic, wine coolers I've ever come across.

Perfect for Summer drinks outdoors. It would make a great gift for a host/hostess filled with their favorite bottle.

It stands 21.5cms/8½" tall and is 11.5cms/4½" diameter, 14cms/5½" at the upper rim.
There is no damage at all to the terracotta, no chips, cracks or scratches. It has a couple of tiny, light chalky marks on the outside of the cooler (see images).
It weighs 900gms/2lbs!

These wine coolers are very effective during Summer to keep your white wine or rosé chilled. It can also be used in Winter to keep your red wine at the correct room temperature.

How it works (there are two ways to use it):

For chilling white wine and rosé:
Soak the wine cooler in cold water for about 7 minutes. The clay will darken as it absorbs the moisture, empty the water and place your favorite bottle of chilled wine in the cooler. The evaporation process will keep your wine cold for 3/4 hours!

For maintaining red wine at the 'idéale température':
Once you have warmed your red wine to the correct room temperature simply place it into the wine cooler and it will remain at the same temperature throughout the meal.
