Antique French Book Bundle
Antique French Book Bundle
This is a stunning set of five vintage French books in faded creamy beige/light brown/yellow ochre/old gold tones. They are "aged to perfection" and will give you an instant "old library" effect and your bookshelves added French chic!
The perfect original gift for booklovers the world over. They look lovely tied up with twine and displayed on a coffee table, sideboard, mantelpiece, bedside table or dresser. The covers have faded with time to subtle, dusky, soft shades and the pages are yellowed with age, with age spots. They make excellent film and photo props and would be ideal for a boho, or shabby chic, themed wedding as a table centerpiece decoration.
The five books are all hardcover editions, distressed from years of genuine use, and some of the pages are delicate and loose:
The titles are:
Histoire des Croisades, M. F. Delacroix, tome premièr. (1836 edition.) This 186 year old book is a gorgeous little history of the crusades. The typeface and print on these pages is glorious. At some point in it's life a child has sketched inside the front cover with some colouring crayons, but this appears only on the inside cover and does not effect the integrity of the book or it's pages at all. It's a real treasure!
Anthologie des Romanciers du XIXe Siècle, E. Maynial (1945 edition.) A selection of 19th Century works by all of France's most famous writers of the time. There are writiting by, Alfred de Musset, Alexandre Dumas, Victor Hugo, Lamartine, Gustave Flaubert, Alfred de Vigny, Guy du Maupassant, Alphonse Daudet and Honoré de Balzac to name but a few!
Petits Chefs-d'Oeuvres Historiques, Tome II : Conjuration des Espagnols contre Venise (par l'Abbé de Saint-Réal) - Histoire des Révolutions du Portugal - Histoire des Révolutions de Suède (par l'Abbé Vertot)(c. 1846 edition.) A rare and collectible book on the conspiracy of the Spanish in Venise and the revolutions of Portugal and Sweden, written by monks.
Pages Choisis des Grands Ecrivains, Alfred de Musset (1896 edition.) Alfred Louis Charles de Musset-Pathay (11 December 1810 – 2 May 1857) was a French dramatist, poet, and novelist. He was the librarian of the French Ministry of the Interior under the July Monarchy. This book has a biography alongside selected writings and studies of his greatest works.
