Antique Lovatts Langley Ware England Stoneware Foot Warmer/Bed Warmer. These were filled with hot water and used to warm feet up in cold horse carriages or beds, in the early 1900s.
It holds 2 Pints (1.13 litres) of water that is fillable at the top by unscrewing the stopper. The bottom is flat, to ensure it's stability, and stop it from rolling around on journeys. The knob at the end was designed for easy handling, to ensure a safe grasp of the bottle, whilst hot.
Its neutral beige/oatmeal colour makes it the perfect accent piece for a period bathroom or rustic cottage bedroom.
In perfect working order it can be used, not just for decoration, but as a functioning hot water bottle/foot warmer.
In absolutely amazing condition for it's considerable age. It has a couple of minor grazes, no chips or cracks. Comes complete with it's stoneware stopper and seal. Still perfectly watertight, it seals tightly with a good rubber seal. It has some slight glazing crackle too, for that "aged to perfection" charm.
It is marked on the bottom In black ink "Lovatts Langley Ware England". It measures 25cms/ 9¾" long x 14cms/ 5½" tall (including the stopper.) It is 10cms/ 4" diameter and weighs a heavy 1.6kgs/ 3.5lbs!
