An Antique Underwood Typewriter. Serial number 67750-12. (1927 model.) This is the ultimate antique library/office décor. An exceptionally nice looking typewriter. It has a French, AZERY keyboard with French accent keys. It appears to have had a change of key tops sometime in the 1950s.
We think it's the perfect bookshelf/desk accent piece for a 1920s home.
Please take a good look at the photos, to view the condition of this typewriter. We are selling it a decorative object, as we have no experience of cleaning or reconditioning. It is dusty and has some minor rust spots. The video shows that the carriage moves, albeit stiffly. Most of the keys move, but they are sticky and stiff. One or two of the keys may be stuck. The bell "dings" and it appears that all the levers/handles and buttons move/slide fairly freely. We would hope that with time and attention it is perfectly possible that, once oiled, cleaned with alcohol and fitted with a new ribbon (the one fitted has dried out), it would be fully functional, although we cannot offer any advise on this. It is sold as seen, with no guarantees regarding the functionality of all the working parts. Please feel free to ask us for extra photos if you would like more detailed "close-ups" of the parts.
It measures approx. 45cms/ 17¾" long x 32cms/ 12½" wide x 25cms/ 9¾" tall. It's an exceptionally large and heavy item, weighing a huge 13.8kgs/ 31lbs! Due to it's size and weight no returns will be accepted on this item, due to the high shipping costs.
We offer FREE worldwide shipping.
Your purchase will be carefully packaged with the utmost care and attention. It will be fully tracked.
