This is a pretty set of five, vintage 'GIEN' tea cups and matching saucers.
If you are decorating a country cottage dresser or love the idea of recreating a 'traditional afternoon cream tea' for a summer garden party then this set is for you. Such a pretty way to serve tea, alongside your scones with jam and cream or slices of Victoria sponge.
Ideal for 'shabby chic tea parties', their neutral color means they will look pretty with old roses and other vintage prints. They have an understated elegance which is refined and light.
Glazed in antique white. The motif is an open daisy, surrounded by leaves, with a rose bud in the background. They have a tactile raised 'scroll' border.
The saucers are 14cms/ 5 ½" diameter.
The cups are 7cms/ 2¾" diameter at the top and 5.5cms/ 2" deep.
Altogether they weigh 1.1kgs/ 2.4lbs.
They are all in gorgeous condition, with no scratches, chips or cracks. There is some very slight tea staining to the underside of a couple of the cups (where they sit on the saucers.)
Gien was founded in 1821 and is today the number one producer of the highest quality earthenware in France.
