This is a fabulous vintage 'Canard- Duchêne' Champagne Ice Bucket /Wine Cooler from the 1980's.
Victor Canard and Léonie Duchêne started producing Champagne in the Montagne de Reims in 1868. It is a very famous and high quality Champagne producer.
The front of this bucket bears the famous, and instantly recognisable, "Canard-Duchêne Champagne" Logo that matches the logos on their champagne bottles.
This ice bucket is in great condition and, considering its age, there is very little damage to the metal. It has obviously seen some action in French bars and bistros over the years but is still in remarkably good condition. Considering its age it has no major dents, just odd 'dints'. It has scratches across the surface, consistent with use, and some discolouration on the inside, from years of holding ice and water, but it has many, many years of service still to offer.
The bucket stands 20cms (7¾") tall and is tapered measuring 14cms (5½") diameter at the bottom and 20cms (7¾") diameter at the top. It is lightweight at 250gms (8.8 ozs).
I have left this bucket exactly as I found it, without cleaning it because I love the authentic patina of its vintage appearance.
