This is a fabulous set of fondue plates in a "'Fondue Bourguignonne" design. These plates would be ideal for anyone who loves cooking outdoors and wants to add a bit of 'French chic' to their barbecue parties.

Each plate is divided into five sections (four smaller segments for different spices/sauces and one larger well for the cubed meat or cheese), they stack neatly on top of each other for storage.

They are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.

The plates all have the "L'Hirondelle, Porcelaine" (the "Swallow" Porcelain manufacturer based in Mehun sur Yèvre, France) mark on the undersides.
They each measure 25cms/ 9¾" diameter. and weigh 600gms/1.3lbs!

"Fondue" is a Swiss dish of melted cheese served in a communal pot over a portable stove heated with a candle or spirit lamp, and eaten by dipping bread into the cheese using long-stemmed forks. Fondue parties became very popular in the 1970's. Meat fondue's are based on the same principal with hot fat being melted in the pot and then small chunks/cubes of meats or fish being dipped until cooked.
Burgundy fondue is a fried beef fondue dish, fried in oil, and traditionally served with either a Tartare Sauce, Tomato Sauce, or Piment or Harissa spices.
