Wow! This was a stunning 'find'! I was so excited to find this gorgeous book, rare and collectible. It was published in 1950!
La Fuente Diccionario Enciclopedico Ilustrado is a Spanish one-volume work. It has a beautiful, classic, Art Nouveau inspired, ultramarine blue cover that has faded with time to a subtle, muted tone. This book would look fabulous displayed on a coffee table. A real 'talking point'.
Inside the front cover it states that it is has '80,000 Articulos, 1,300 Grabados, 600 Retratos and 100 Cuadros' meaning '80.000 articles, 1.300 prints, 600 portraits and 100 pictures.'
The photographs show a very small selection of the pages and the book itself is mesmerising in the detail and information packed into it. Once you pick it up it seems impossible to put it down again!
It is a hardcover edition and measures 19cms x 14cms x 6cms (7½" x 5½" x 2¼") and weighs 1kgs (2.2lbs)!
The cover is a little loose and the pages are yellowed with 'age spots'. Most importantly it has that 'old book smell' reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting. 'Aged to perfection'!
Gracias por dar un vistazo a se maravilloso libro!
